Invoices and VERI*FACTU

Does Kobrio issue my invoices?

Not directly. You prepare the invoice in Kobrio and a certified provider issues it: it numbers the invoice, generates the VERI*FACTU record, sends it to the AEAT (Spanish Tax Agency) and returns the QR code.

Kobrio never numbers, chains or signs invoices with its own logic. That way, the invoicing system the AEAT deals with is the provider’s.

When does VERI*FACTU become mandatory?

Under the timetable currently in force (Real Decreto-ley 15/2025), from 1 January 2027 for companies and from 1 July 2027 for everyone else, except those already using the SII (immediate VAT reporting).

In October 2026 Hacienda (the Tax Agency) announced that it will postpone it to October 2028, together with mandatory e-invoicing between businesses. That postponement still has to be approved in a new regulation: until it’s published, the dates above still apply.

With Kobrio you already issue invoices with VERI*FACTU, so whether the dates stay the same or change, you don’t need to do anything differently.

What types of invoice can I issue?

Full invoices, simplified invoices, full invoices that replace a simplified one, corrective invoices and voids, including exempt transactions. For sales you’ve already been paid for, there’s the quick charge.

Can I correct an invoice I’ve already issued?

An issued invoice can’t be changed. You correct it with a corrective invoice or void it, and Kobrio guides you through the process.

Expenses and the quarter

How do I record an expense?

With a photo of the receipt, by uploading the file (or several at once, also in a ZIP), by forwarding it to your expenses address or from the in-app chat. The supplier, dates, tax bases and taxes are extracted automatically and Kobrio suggests a category; you check it before saving.

Does Kobrio file my tax returns?

No. Kobrio works out an approximate estimate of Modelo 303 (quarterly VAT return) and Modelo 130 (quarterly income tax prepayment) so you know where you stand, and prepares the quarterly package. Your adviser (or you) files the returns.

Does Kobrio give me tax advice?

No. Kobrio checks, alerts and guides you, but it doesn’t give tax advice. You decide, guided by your adviser.

Do I need an adviser?

It isn’t compulsory, but Kobrio is designed to work with one: you can invite yours for free and they’ll receive your quarter in order.

Does it work in the Canary Islands, the Basque Country or Navarre?

In the Canary Islands, yes, with IGIC (the Canary Islands’ indirect tax). In the Basque Country, only in Álava for now (with TicketBAI), for freelancers and companies. Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia, Navarre, Ceuta and Melilla will follow later.

Are there businesses you don’t support yet?

Yes: businesses taxed under the módulos scheme, under recargo de equivalencia (the equivalence surcharge for retailers) or using the SII, cooperatives, associations and foundations, and comunidades de bienes (joint ownership entities) and sociedades civiles (partnerships) in the Basque Country and Navarre, among others. Kobrio spots this when you sign up and adds you to the waiting list.

Do you take a commission on payments from my clients?

No. If you turn on payment links, you connect your own Stripe account and the money goes straight to you. Kobrio never receives your clients’ money.

Who can see my data?

You, the people on your team and the adviser you assign. To sign in, your phone always confirms it’s you, and the servers are in the European Union.

Privacy and security

Why does Kobrio ask for my phone when I sign in?

Your invoices are tax documents; this way nobody else can get in, even if they know your email address. It’s what’s called a “second factor”.

The easiest way is to use the fingerprint, face or PIN of your phone or computer, the same one you use to unlock it. If you prefer, you can use a code app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. You set it up once and it takes a minute.

If you lose your phone, you sign in with the recovery codes you saved or request account recovery.

Can I take my data with me if I leave?

Yes. You can export invoices, expenses and receipts as PDF, CSV, XLSX and ZIP whenever you like, and download a full copy of your business with “Download everything”. When you cancel, its data is kept for 6 years from the end of the year of your last invoice or expense and you can download all of it; we let you know before deleting it.

Shall we talk?

Kobrio is invitation-only while we grow carefully. Tell us what you do and we’ll get back to you.
